Karen Snider moved to Aiken, SC from Oregon eight years ago.  She attended the University of New Mexico in the 1970's where she majored in Anthropology and minored in Art.  She continues to take classes and workshops in order to improve her skills.

During the 1980's and 90's she resided in California and Oregon respectively, and exhibited in galleries and shows throughout both states, receiving many awards for her work.

After moving to Aiken, Karen's choice of medium changed from pastels to oil paints. In 2004, she retired from teaching to take a job with fewer hours and less stress, allowing her to spend more time painting.

For the past four years, Karen has entered many juried shows in South Carolina and North Carolina, winning several awards. This past spring, she received an honorable mention at the Hilton Head National Juried Art Show. Collectors from all over the country have purchased her work.
