Growing up in Western Massachusetts, Jean has always shown her artistic talent. She was the class artist in elementary school which enabled her to wear slacks when other girls had to wear the required skirts.
Upon graduating high school, she ended up in Nursing School instead of Art School, which had been her dream. She dabbled some with oil paint in her early 20's. After 21 years of being a nurse, she finally went back to school and graduated from Augusta Technical College in Graphic Arts.
Upon graduation, she acquired a position with Lower Savannah Council of Governments in Aiken where she became the Graphic Coordinator. Eventually this job evolved into GIS Coordinator (making maps on computer). Still, this was not her dream. Jean wanted to paint full-time.
So, in 2005, she quit her job to pursue her artistic career. Over the years she had experimented with many mediums, including oils, acrylic, watercolor, carving wood, sculpting with clay, and stained glass. She still prefers watercolors over all.
An award winning artist, Jean's artwork can be found in private collections worldwide. She is a member and board member of the Aiken Artist Guild, and member of North Augusta Artist Guild.
