Frank began working with watercolors and pottery after retiring from Savannah River Site in 2000. He initially took several watercolor classes at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. He later took classes at John C. Campbell concentrating on pottery: wood firing, Raku glaze development and Raku firing.
In September, 2005, he partnered with Betsy Wilson Mahoney at "The Studio" on Hayne Avenue in Aiken, SC. In November, 2006, he opened another studio in Rabun Gap, GA, and in July, 2008, moved all of his art work to his Northeast GA studio.
During his time as a potter, he has had numerous pieces selected for juried shows in addition to being invited to participate in numerous art festivals and shows in SC and GA.
