Betty Fraser is primarily a self-taught artist. Other than a few workshops and some summer classes, the only experience is in the actual work, some good and some not so good. All of it done for the love of it! Over the past 15 years, the painting has been done in spurts...some ribbons have been won and some paintings have been sold. All of it has been very interesting and good. She has lived in Aiken County all her life and paints with oils, acrylics, some watercolor and experiments with collage.
Artist Statement
I paint to record the feeling I have of seeing a flower, a tree, a bird or horse, water, skies, boats, children, other people and the beauty of it. Some not so beautiful, but inspiring. You have to be in love with the whole process of making something come alive on canvas and maybe someone will see what you see, or feel what you feel.
