Doris Sofge

Doris M. Sofge is a multimedia artist who has won many awards in local, regional and national exhibitions. She was selected out of 15,000 entries to be a finalist in "The Artist Magazine National Painting Competition", was the commissioned artist for the Thermal Ceramics International Conference in Augusta and was featured in the Easy Street magazine. Not only is her work inn private collections in the United States, Canada, and Japan, it can also be found in the collection of other artists.

She enjoys the freedom of painting in numerous media and styles. Currently she has taken her art to a higher level bridging the conceptual and the physical in an experimental fashion creating the essence of a personal vision.

Her formal art education began at Florida State University and continued at the University of South Carolina. She has also attended workshops with numerous nationally known artists.

She has three limited edition prints, "Survivors," "Rosemary," and "Lookaway," sold in several CSRA art galleries and in the gallery in her home studio in North Augusta.

"While I enjoy working in all media, I am fascinated by the versatility of acrylic which lends itself to various forms of artistic vision. It serves well as an outlet for transforming ordinary subject matter into extraordinary paintings."

She is a "Member With Excellence" of the South Carolina Watermedia Society, a member of the Aiken Artist Guild, The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, The North Augusta Artist Guild and serves on the Board of Directors of the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council.
