A Note From the President

Guild Members,

We are having a very exciting year with the Aiken Artist Guild.

Our next meeting will be held February 8th at 7:00 p.m. upstairs in the Brown Pavilion Room at the ACA. We will be giving out the Ed Warner scholarship award to an art student named Mabry MacGregor from USCA. She will be coming to our February meeting and bringing some of her art work. Our speaker for that meeting will be Mike Fowler, a collector of art work on Abe Lincoln. I think you will have an exciting evening.

We have unanimously approved to honor George Kierspe and Nancy Wilds with USCA Art scholarships of $1,000 each in their names. We will keep you informed as to when these will be awarded.

Our next upcoming show and art sale for the 175th Aiken anniversary will be held April 3rd through April 24th in the Aiken County Historical Museum at Banksia. The grand opening will be on April 3rd from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Make sure you bring your friends and relatives. If a piece of your artwork is sold, it may be taken at that time and you may replace it with another piece with no additional entry fee. Please check your emails for specific information regarding size, amount, etc.

There will be a reception for Carolyn Bohn in the Aiken Center for the Arts on Thursday Feb. 11th from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m.. Come and bring all your friends and relative to view her exciting work.

We will be having a juried show at the Aiken Center for the Arts in May. More information will be forthcoming.

I want to thank the Board for all their hard work, dedication, and making time for all of these meetings. I just couldn't do it without you. Also, I can't forget Brenda Douglas who is so dedicated in getting all those emails out to all of you.

I would like to hear from anyone who would be interested in being on the Board for next year. We will have several openings and I really need your help. Please give any of the board members or myself a call and let one of us know.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the February meeting.
