Aiken artist Ron Rappoport will present a solo exhibit in the Aiken Artist Guild Gallery at the Aiken Center for the Arts during the month of December. The opening reception is Dec. 8, 6-8 pm at the center and is free and open to the public.
Rapppoport was born in Ohio living in several large cities before moving to Aiken in 2000. As a "self taught" artist, he paints in acrylic on canvas with special interest in subjects such as water mills, old barns and covered bridges. The artist has been particulary inspired by his wife's uncle, Eric Sloane, a well known artist and author.
Having spent many vacations on boats and on beaches in the US and in the Caribbean, he decided to paint a series of beach and harbor scenes this past year. "I liked the beautiful colors of the Caribbean houses and buildings so some of my paintings use those colors." explains Rappoport.
The exhibit will be on display Dec. 2 to 29th.
